Leadership & Education in Nephrology 2011

This award was given to Professor Soliman in recognition, by the Global Kidney Academy and iNEF Board, of her outstanding leadership qualities and commitment to Education in Nephrology.

Professor Soliman is Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology at Cairo University. In 2001, she was a co-Founder Center of Pediatric Nephrology & Transplantation, Children's Hospital at Cairo University.

Her research interest focuses on genetic and metabolic renal diseases including cystinosis. Another main research interest is the clinical and molecular characterization of cystic kidney diseases, ciliopathies and steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome.

In 2003, she founded the Egyptian Group for Orphan Renal Diseases (EGORD). She heads a team of 10 co-workers and they established a national database for many inherited renal diseases with strong links to a number of leading international research centres.

She is a member of several Pediatric Nephrology and Genetics scientific societies.  Professor Soliman authored and co-authored many publications in peer-reviewed international journals and was awarded the University of Cairo Publication Achievement Award in 2012.
